Evan Lee began his career 12 years ago in Santa Rosa California as an apprentice under David Marks who is currently host of the show "Wood Works" on the DIY television network. Following his apprenticeship he worked as shop foreman at the Randolph Johnson Design studio and then began an intensive, master apprenticeship program under Michael Cullen of Petaluma California. The program was modeled after the famous Barnsley Workshop in England and enabled Evan to master the woodworking skills required for fine furniture design and construction. After this program, for several years, he worked with Michael Cullen building furniture on private commission and speculative gallery pieces. During that period of time he had several pieces featured in Woodwork magazine. |
Evan then returned to Philadelphia where he continued his mastery of general craftsmanship working with Philadelphia based furnituremakers and artists such as Michael Hurwitz and Mark Brodzick. In 2001, Evan opened his own workshop in Philadelphia Pennsylvania where he focuses on building commissions for private collectors and making furniture for local designers. More of his work can currently be seen on display in the Wexler Gallery at Third & Race streets in Philadelphia. |
